[About]

US punk-metal mainstays Strung Out return to Australia this September to celebrate 30 years of their landmark album Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues with a national run of headline shows right across the country. Three decades on from its release, the record’s impact on punk and melodic hardcore is still being felt, and this tour brings that energy back to Australian stages in 2026.

Originally released in 1996, Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues crammed 13 songs into 32 breakneck minutes and became a defining record for a generation of punk fans. From the opening blast of “Firecracker” through to “Wrong Side of the Tracks”, its mix of hook-heavy melodies, urgent lyrics and high-speed riffs set a new benchmark for technical, emotionally-charged punk. For many fans it was the gateway into the band’s world, and it remains a touchstone album for both listeners and bands that followed.

Over the years, Strung Out have never stood still. Across ten albums, EPs and split releases, they’ve pushed their sound into heavier, darker and more progressive territory while keeping the melodic bite that first won them a loyal following. Onstage, they’ve built a reputation as one of the most explosive live bands in punk rock – loud, tight and direct, with no throwbacks for the sake of it and no wasted moments. Whether they’re tearing through older favourites or deep cuts, every song feels wired and alive.

This September, Australian crowds will see that history collide in real time. The shows will spotlight Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues throughout the set – celebrating its 30-year legacy – while pulling in favourites from across the band’s catalogue and different eras. For long-time followers it’s a chance to reconnect with the record that started it all; for newer fans, it’s the perfect way to experience one of punk’s most enduring bands at full flight.
